Marine Propulsion
Our services for the marine propulsion industry
For more than 40 years, aero-derivative gas turbines have played a crucial role in propelling vessels. They are an ideal power source for marine applications, being smaller and lighter than a steam turbine or diesel engine, with an excellent power to weight ratio. Producing between three and 25 megawatts of power, they reach full operating temperature much more quickly than an industrial turbine.
Today, gas turbines are installed on many of the world’s naval fleets, providing cruising power as well as boost propulsion in combat situations.
We are ideally placed to support the marine propulsion industry.
We apply our 30 years’ of experience supporting industrial aero-derivative gas generators to marine gas turbines. Our customers rely on our comprehensive scope of service and depth of experience. They trust our knowledge and know-how. We are flexible and responsive to their needs. Our systems and processes are robust and we have world-class facilities, highly experienced people and OEM approval. We help our customers improve the efficiency and reliability of their engines, and lower their lifecycle costs.
In partnership with the OEM, we provide engine repair and overhaul, performance testing and component repair to the UK MoD, supporting gas turbines installed on Royal Navy frigates and destroyers.
Our capability extends across Rolls-Royce Spey SM1C and SM1A, Tyne, WR-21, and Mk 2007 Olympus marine gas turbines, as well as the SK-15 power turbine used on Spey packages.
We are the right maintenance partner to keep marine gas turbines running safely, reliably and cost-effectively.
