RWG Secures Multi-Engine Overhaul Contract from National Grid

National Grid Gas Transmission has awarded RWG a contract to undertake major maintenance of their Siemens aero-derivative gas generator fleet located across the UK mainland.

The contract, with an initial term of three years, includes the major overhaul of SGT-A20 (Industrial Avon) and SGT-A35 (Industrial RB211) gas generators, including field services, annual inspection and equipment installation and recommissioning support, providing National Grid with a comprehensive maintenance solution for Siemens aero-derivative gas generators.

“This contract is unique, providing high quality overhaul services at RWG’s dedicated Aberdeen workshop, as well as additional services and product support over the course of the contract. This novel approach will result in the most cost-effective and reliable maintenance model for National Grid,” said Kenny McKenzie, RWG’s SGT-A20 Business Manager.”

“The structure of this contract facilitates close cooperation between RWG’s customer facing team and National Grid staff to define the scope of work for each maintenance event, ensuring this is tailored to the customer’s specific requirements. A benefit of this methodology is implementation of OEM approved modification and upgrade programmes, mitigating obsolescence and increasing the longevity of National Grid’s fleet,” added Russell Grant, RWG’s SGT-A35 Business Manager.

National Grid has a large fleet of Siemens aero-derivative industrial gas generators. This equipment, located at compressor stations across the length and breadth of the UK, provides essential mechanical drive capacity to ensure the energy needs of industrial, commercial and domestic users is met.
