About the role

Due to continued growth in our Advanced Remanufacturing Business, an opportunity has arisen for a Spray Painter. The successful candidate will be based at Dyce, Aberdeen and will report to the Production Supervisor. The primary function of this position is the preparation, coating and refinishing of gas turbine components and 3rd party work also carried in house. Additional functions include the preventative maintenance and operation of blast equipment and associated plant, ovens, degreasing equipment and spray booths etc.

An overview of your day

  • Cleaning of components using mechanical degreasing equipment and manually degreasing.
  • Masking / demasking of components using various methods of masking products.
  • Preparation of parts using blast cabinets.
  • Application of coatings by spray gun.
  • Using ovens to preheat, dry and cure component coatings.
  • Ensure the correct procedures, documentation and high standards of material handing are observed.
  • Provide regular feedback to supervision on the progress of tasks and escalate any issues that may impact on agreed turn times.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping in all work areas and perform any related or comparable duties assigned by 5’S.
  • Basic preventative maintenance of machinery prior to use and reporting of faults/defect to Supervision.
  • Ensure consumable levels are well stocked and inform supervision when consumables require re-ordering.
  • Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required to meet the needs of the business.
  • Shift working, including nightshift, is a mandatory requirement for this position.
  • Ability to work overtime and swap shifts at short notice for production / customer requirements.

What we need from you

  • Automotive spray painters or industrial spray painters with a proven background of refinishing to high standards may be considered.
  • Surface preparation and knowledge of masking along with grit blasting would be advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of paint mixing and spraying techniques.
  • Knowledge of QHS&E procedures & Risk/COSHH assessments.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and planning skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and understand work instruction.
