HSE Specialist (Hybrid work schedule) – Houston

Essential Duties

Policy Management and Compliance:

  • Oversee the implementation and adherence to HSE policies and protocols.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance by managing and submitting reports to relevant authorities, including OSHA and waste management records.
  • Lead safety compliance audits and maintain compliance sites such as ISNetworld and Veriforce.

Training, Guidance, and Incident Management:

  • Develop safety initiatives by leading HSE meetings and training sessions for staff.
  • Provide proactive guidance and support to facilitate a safe work environment during organizational changes and maintenance operations.
  • Manage worker’s compensation claims and incident investigations to mitigate risks.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify hazards.
  • Facilitate incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Stakeholder Engagement and Continuous Improvement:

  • Oversee Risk Assessments and support the development of new assessments.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments for proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies and industry groups.
  • Serve as a liaison between management and employees to address HSE concerns and foster open communication.

Additional responsibilities

  • Interpret legislative and regulatory requirements to develop company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate in overseeing onsite contractors to uphold safety compliance standards.
  • Foster engagement and cultivate a positive HSE culture within the organization.
  • Conduct audits in alignment with the HSEQ audit plan, adhering to HSEQ requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across HSE practices.

Experience

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university preferred.
  • Professional HSE Certification required.
  • OSHA 10/OSHA 30 General Industry
  • RCRA
  • DOT Hazardous Material
  • 6+ years of experience within an HSE role.
  • Detailed knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements. (OSHA, DOT, TCEQ)

9/80 Alternate Work Schedule​

All regular full-time employees are eligible to participate in our 9/80 program. The 9/80 alternate work schedule consists of eight (8) workdays of nine (9) hours and one workday of eight (8) hours for a total of eighty (80) hours during two (2) consecutive work weeks. The eight (8) hour workday must be the employee’s working Friday. Under the 9/80 schedule, one calendar week shall consist of 44 hours (four 9-hour days and one 8-hour day) and the alternating calendar week will consist of 36 hours (four 9-hour days and one day off). Employees are not required to participate in the 9/80 program. Employees can “opt-out” and work the regular work week.​​

$85,950 – $94,998 salary is dependent on experience
